The decision comes years after Markle andPrince Harrysigned their widely reported $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020, producing several projects for the platform.

While the partnership initially delivered a major hit with theHarry & Meghandocuseries, later projects struggled to maintain the same traction.

Representatives for both Netflix andMarkleconfirmed that the streaming platform will no longer act as a partner in theAs Everbrand.

The lifestyle company launched in connection with Markle's Netflix seriesWith Love, Meghan, which featured cooking, entertaining, and home lifestyle ideas inspired by her life in Montecito, California.

"We have an exciting year ahead and can't wait to share more."

Netflix also emphasized that the split was expected as part of the brand's long-termplan.

"As it was always intended, Meghan will continuegrowingthe brand and take it into its next chapter independently, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to households around the world," a Netflix spokesperson shared.

"It's a really exciting time for As ever, and Meghan is building with her team and enjoying the creative fulfillment that comes with creating a brand that's so close to the life she authentically lives," the source added.

"This year is really about establishing the brand and scaling it."

Markle and Prince Harry previously worked with Netflix under a $100 million content deal

The development also comes after Netflix chose not to renew the couple's multiyear production contract. The deal began in 2020 following Markle and Harry's departure from senior royal roles.

Under the agreement, thepairproduced several projects for the platform, includingHarry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, Polo, andWith Love, Meghan.

WhileHarry & Meghanbecame one of Netflix's most-watcheddocumentarydebuts, later projects reportedly attracted far smaller audiences.

According to Netflix engagement data,With Love, Meghandrew 5.3 million views in early 2025.Polowas watched by roughly 500,000 households.

Addressing the production deal, industry insiders shared withThe Sun, "There's no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course."

Netflix's deal announcement with Markle also sparked divided reactions from online users

The announcement quickly sparked debate online, with several commenters offering very different interpretations of the decision.

"It means she can go global with her products. She is a savvy businesswoman," one commenter wrote.

Another added, "She's now gonna be the captain of the ship. She can take the brand where she wants to take it."

Others suggested Netflix had already gained what it needed from the partnership.

"Netflix finally seeing sense," one person wrote, while another commenter questioned why the deal lasted as long as it did.

"I think the bigger question is why there was still a deal on the table after all the flops with their documentary and the cooking show."

Some viewers also criticized the couple's later projects.

"The ratings were in the toilet, and that's exactly why they cut ties," another user claimed.

Markle has previously spoken openly about the challenges of building a new business under intense public scrutiny.

In an interview withPeoplediscussing the launch ofAs Ever, the Duchess of Sussex shared that the process involved learning in real time.

"I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out, and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It's a learning curve," she said.

While Netflix's role in the brand has ended, both sides clarified they remain supportive of each other's work.

The 12 best teenage romance movies on Netflix

Memories fade, but not all of them. The ones that stick around tend to be tied to feeling and novelty: a first kiss, first dance, first heartbreak. For better or worse, we take these loves and losses to the grave. That's why teen romance movies hit so hard — the memories might be buried, but certain kinds of stories bring them right back up to the surface.

While20th Century Girlfeatures many of the teen romance movie tropes you grew up with, this Korean film energizes even the most tired clichés. The story is familiar: A girl (Kim Yoo-jung) plays matchmaker for her ill friend (Roh Yoon-seo) by learning everything about her crush (Park Jung-woo). It doesn't take long, of course, for her to fall in love with the boy she's investigating. Between the charms of first love and the nuances of friendship, this teen movie is a winner.—Chris Snellgrove

Featuring Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña (2024'sEmilia Pérez) and Taryn Manning in the roles of Lucy's friends and road trip buddies, the movie is,as EW's critic notes, designed to deliver Spears "to the big screen safe and sound." The later films in this successful franchise feel more phoned in, but this first tale involving a teenage girl (Joey King) whose desire for the local bad boy (Jacob Elordi) threatens her friendship with his younger brother (Joel Courtney) still feels fun and fresh. When she ends up running the titular fundraiser, she must face her feelings far sooner than she was expecting. The answer is simple: They move heaven and earth to find one another again. Wes Andersonknows whimsy, and inMoonrise Kingdom, the director constructs a beautiful elegy to young love. Set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, this coming-of-age dramedy follows two 12-year-old misfits as they become pen pals and agree to run away together.

Visually constructed using Anderson's pastel palette and cast with some of his favorite stock players, the film combines dreamy, youthful fantasy with religious allegory, and ends up with a story that feels both edgy and innocent.Edward Nortonis a treat in his role as the scoutmaster in charge of a local summer camp, but it's the performances by the film's child actors — Jared Gilman as Sam and Kara Kayward as Suzy, both industry novices — that makeMoonrise Kingdomone of Anderson's most compelling projects.—I.G.

McDormand leads the "true story" as Marge, a shrewd cop who patiently unwinds a complicated series of crimes involving kidnapping, extortion, murder, and the improper use of a woodchipper.

Her folksy but stubborn police work uncovers a conspiracy between a desperate car salesman (William H. Macy) and two hired crooks (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare), who turn a simple kidnapping-and-ransom type deal into a string of murders.

As it turns 30, here's a look at what the cast has accomplished since Marge closed the case.

Frances McDormand (Marge Gunderson)

Frances McDormandwon her first of three Academy Awards as Marge Gunderson, a pregnant police chief who cracks the case by doggedly following up on every clue and loose end.

McDormand "really wanted [Marge] to be good at her job," as she saidduring a 2021Fargoreunion. "So many women would come up to me and say, 'I love seeing a woman good at her job. I'm good at my job.' I mean, that's not why they made the movie, but that was a nice side effect of it."

The actress met her husband, Joel Coen, during an audition for the Coens' debut, the neo-noirBlood Simple(1984). She got the part and has since regularly appeared in the duo's films, includingRaising Arizona(1987),The Man Who Wasn't There(2001), andBurn After Reading(2008), plus Joel's solo effort,The Tragedy of Macbeth(2021), as Lady Macbeth.

McDormand won two more Best Actress statuettes, first forThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri(2017) and again forNomadland(2020). The Academy has recognized her supporting work as well, nominating her forMississippi Burning(1988),Almost Famous(2000), andNorth Country(2005). Her trophy case also includes a Tony, which she won forGood Peoplein 2011, and an Emmy for the miniseriesOlive Kitteridge(2014).

The veteran actress has found a foothold in Wes Anderson's company of actors, appearing inMoonrise Kingdom(2012) andThe French Dispatch(2021). Also of note is her key supporting role in Sarah Polley'sWomen Talking(2022).

McDormand and Coen have been married since 1984; they have one son, Pedro.

Macy's Oscar-nominated turn inFargowas a role he was ready to fight for, tellingEW in 2016, "I found out that they were auditioning in New York still, so I got my jolly, jolly Lutheran ass on an airplane and walked in and said, 'I want to read again because I'm scared you're going to screw this up and hire someone else.' I actually said that. You know, you can't play that card too often as an actor. Sometimes it just blows up in your face, but I said, 'Guys, this is my role. I want this.'"

Macy began his career with appearances in David Mamet's plays and has starred in several of Mamet's films, including the acclaimedHomicide(1991) and the controversialOleanna(1994).

In recent years, he played Brie Larson's father inRoom(2015), had a memorable mo-cap performance inKingdom of the Planet of the Apes(2024), and chopped wood with Joel Edgerton in the Oscar-nominated dramaTrain Dreams(2025).

After a regular gig onER(1994–1998) and a recurring spot on Aaron Sorkin'sSports Night(1999–2000), Macy took on the lead role of irresponsible dad Frank Gallagher in Showtime's dysfunctional family dramedyShameless(2011–2021), earning six Emmy nominations.

Macy married actress Felicity Huffman in 1997. They have two daughters, Sophia and Georgia.
