Harry Styles' new album is both adventurous and puzzling. Is that good?

It was evident from the first strains of "Aperture" thatHarry Styles'new album would not be the same as it was.

USA TODAY

Where his Grammy-winning "Harry's House" danced with taut melodies, inescapable hooks and blasts of brass (we still love you,"Music for a Sushi Restaurant"), Styles' fourth solo album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally," is as quirky and brow-furrowing as its title.

That isn't a criticism, just the acknowledgement that Styles'first release in four years, out March 6, takes a hard turn into electronic music meshed with Dark Wave '80s influences.

Breezy pop, this is not. But itisa showcase for an artist unafraid to stretch and plunge into the deep end.

Thethumping "Aperture"arrived as a slow-burn song that already sounded like a remix, yet its unconventionality didn't prevent it from racing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in February (along with the Global 200, Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales chart).

Harry Styles releases his fourth studio album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally," March 6, 2026.

Styles, 32, crafted the album's dozen tracks with trusted producerKid Harpoon, the pair gleefully experimenting with roiling synths and taking cues from artists such as British DJ/producerJamie xx(who will join Styles at hisMadison Square Garden showsthis summer).

The titles to many songs – "Season 2 Weight Loss," "Ready, Steady, Go!" and "Taste Back" among them – aren't better clarified after listening to lyrics that require an archeologist to expose. WhenStyles tosses out lineslike "But you call Leon/you call it only in my head" on the Eurotrash disco banger "Ready, Steady, Go!" and leads the call and response coda "Gotta get your feet wet/Respect!/Respect your mother!" on the funky "Dance No More," the message seems to be, don't worry about understanding it, just feel it.

That said, fans will likely scour the internet for clues about the subject of album closer "Carla's Song," which is driven by bright synths and throbbing bass that escalates into rattlesnake shakes as Styles intones "It's all waiting there for you." Likewise the slow grooving, piano pulsing "American Girls," which finds Styles skipping through a singsong chorus of "I've known you for ages/it's all that I've heard/my friends are in love with American Girls."

Throughout the album, Styles admirably dedicates himself to progressing, even if it doesn't mean gift wrapped radio fodder. But no doubt these EDM-imbued tracks will land with a wallopwhen performed live.

Here are some of the standout tracks on "KATTDO."

Harry Styles' upcoming fourth album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally," is led by first single "Aperture," released Jan. 22, 2026.

'Are You Listening Yet?'

Styles speak-sings over cascading keyboards in his most verbose song on the album, which is also his most musically stimulating. A clattering chorus of "Now you're all out of choices/are you listening yet?" eventually takes flight. But then electric guitar swoops in, the song detours into a drum-heavy break and somehow it all sounds cohesive.

'Taste Back'

It's a very '80s moment, with the industrial synth-pop of Depeche Mode or Soft Cell clear influences as Styles sings over a sweet, mellifluous chorus, "Must be lonely in Paris if you talk like that … Did you get your taste back?/Or do you just need a little love?" Styles works out his questioning in real time, deciding, that yes, "you just need a little love."

'Coming Up Roses'

The string-infused ballad is one of Styles' most openhearted songs, and also contains the magical lyric, "Just for tonight, let's go hangover chasing." The swoony strings coat the song with a lush, old-fashioned feel. But what makes the eighth track on "KATTO" so intriguing is that its softness comes out of left field, like "Yesterday" popping up between "I've Just Seen a Face" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" on the Beatles' "Help!" album.

'Pop'

If there is anything resembling the, well, pop of Styles' past, this is it. Except this time he threads some repetitious techno into the mix. You canhear Styles unravelingas the song unfurls, but there is no denying the grip of the chorus, "Am I in over my head?/This could go anywhere/I do it and do it again/it's meant to be pop," the emphasis placed on the title word. "It's nice to mix two flavors together," Styles sings, once again offering mystifying lyrics that may make sense only to him. And once again reminding that it's OK to feel more than think.

Justin Timberlake sues to stop the release of arrest video

Singer Justin Timberlake, through his attorneys, filed a petition on Monday to stop the release of video footage capturing his 2024 arrest.

Good Morning America

The petition, filed against Sag Harbor Village Police Department, the chief of police and the city of Sag Harbor, claims that the "intention to disseminate body-worn camera footage from Petitioner's traffic stop and arrest on June 18, 2024 constitutes an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy under Public Officers Law."

In the court filing, obtained by ABC News, Timberlake's attorney asks the court to "permanently enjoin" the footage from being released in response to a request for it under the Freedom of Information Law.

Justin Timberlake reveals Lyme disease diagnosis

Timberlake wasarrested in June2024 after police alleged Timberlake was driving while intoxicated. The singer pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the arrest, before reaching aplea deal to resolve the casein September 2024. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of driving while impaired. He was ordered to pay a fine and perform community service.

Ted Shaffrey/AP,Files - PHOTO: Justin Timberlake urges drivers not to get behind the wheel after even a single alcoholic drink in Sag Harbor, New York, Sept. 13, 2024, as part of his sentence for driving while impaired.

The petition went on to claim that the video shows Timberlake in "an acutely vulnerable state."

"Public dissemination of this footage would cause severe and irreparable harm to Petitioner's personal and professional reputation, subject Petitioner to public ridicule and harassment, and serve no legitimate public interest in understanding the operations of government," the petition said.

According to the petition, the full video shows eight hours "of continuous recording and encroaches upon areas of Petitioner's life and emotional state that have no relevance at all to Petitioner's arrest."

Furthermore, the filing argues that releasing the footage would "constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy because it reveals intimate, highly personal, and sensitive details concerning [Timberlake] and his family, and includes information of medical, familial, otherwise confidential nature."

Timberlake was leaving the American Hotel in June 2024 when he was stopped for allegedly running a stop sign and swerving into the oncoming lane. The officer smelled booze on his breath, according to a police report.

In a criminal complaint, police noted that Timberlake had bloodshot, glassy eyes. He also had slow speech, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on a field sobriety test, according to the complaint.

Justin Timberlake pleads not guilty for 2nd time to charges stemming from DWI arrest

Hepleaded not guiltytwice to charges stemming from his arrest for driving while intoxicated. Following his first not-guilty plea, he had a re-arraignment on Aug. 2, where the singer appeared virtually, after a paperwork error when he was initially charged.

After his arrest, Timberlake addressed what he was going through during a performance at Chicago's United Center in June 2024.

"We've been through ups and downs and lefts and rights," he said.

"It's been a tough week," he continued. "But you're here, and I'm here."

ABC News has reached out to the Sag Harbor Police chief, a lawyer for the village and a representative for Timberlake for comment.

Cumming: 'We were all let down' that the slur was broadcast

Scottish actor and presenter Alan Cumming poses on the red carpet upon arrival at the BAFTA British Academy Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, in London, on February 22, 2026.

The racial slur was audible on the BBC television broadcast, which was aired on a two-hour delay. It sparked backlash andprompted apologiesfrom the BBC, the BAFTAs, and Davidson, who condemned the slur.

"The only possible good that could come of this is a reminder that words matter, that rushing to judgement about things of which we are not fully cognisant is folly, that all trauma must be recognised and honoured," Cumming wrote. "We were all let down by decisions made to both broadcast slurs and censor free speech."

Days after the BAFTAs, on Feb. 28, Lindo expressed gratitude at the 57th NAACP Awards, while presenting the best supporting actress in a movie award alongside directorRyan Coogler.

"I'd just like to officially say, I appreciate, we appreciate all the support and love we have been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us," he said at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Jordan, who was also in attendance, did not address the moment during the broadcast but said, "I love being Black" when he accepted the award for best actor in a movie. He dedicated the honor to his late "Black Panther" costar Chadwick Boseman.

NEED TO KNOW

  • She previously was asked about the rumor on Watch What Happens Live in 2015 but wouldn't name the mystery man

  • In her new memoir, Applegate says Pitt was "very mad at me" afterward

Christina Applegateis reflecting on the time she leftBrad Pittin the lurch after bringing him as her date to an awards show.

In her new memoirYou With the Sad Eyes, out now, theDead to Meactress, 54, at one point recalls inviting Pitt to the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles after they'd already been "platonic pals for the longest time."

Applegate, who was 17 at the time and at the peak of herMarried... with Childrensitcom fame, wore a classy Ceil Chapman gown to the ceremony that made her feel so "incredible."

"In fact," she adds in the book, "I felt so powerful and sure of myself for once that when the awards show was over, I left withSebastian Bach, not Brad Pitt."

The actress said she had been eyeing Skid Row frontman Bach, now 57, the whole night. She pointed out that Pitt, now 62, was "still making his way as an actor, and he wasn't yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people's dreams." (The eventual Oscar winner's big break would come with a memorable role in 1991'sThelma & Louise.)

Applegate, who is nowmarried to musician Martyn LeNoble, 56, writes that Pitt "was left to sullenly drive" her mom and a friend home from the event after ditching him for the rock star.

"Not surprisingly, [he] was subsequently very mad at me. We didn't talk for many years after that," writes Applegate, adding, "Eventually, we agreed that I'd been a kid, and though he'd deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row."

While onWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohenback in 2015, Applegateplayed "Plead the Fifth" andwas asked about the rumor that she ditched Pitt at the award show.

Cohen asked Applegate who the other man was that she left Pitt for that night, to which she responded coyly, "How many fifths do I get? ... I have to say it? I don't have to do nothin'!" She confirmed the mystery man was famous but not an actor and that they didn't go on to date after that night. She also said she did not date Pitt after that.
