'The View' host Alyssa Farah Griffin welcomes first child

The cohost of "The View" and former White House strategic communications director, 36, has welcomed her firstchild with husband Justin Griffin.

Whoopi Goldbergannounced on the Feb. 11 episode of "The View" that Griffin gave birth to a baby boy, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr., adding that "both mom and baby are doing well," though "I'm sure they're tired."

In an Instagram story, Griffin said the baby arrived Tuesday evening. "We're overjoyed and so grateful for all the well wishes!" she wrote.

This is the first child for Griffin, who on Monday's episode of "The View" joked thatBad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime showperformance was so good, she thought it might cause her to go into labor.

"It was just an excellent performance, start to finish," she said in a segment covering the halftime show. "I only even knew the song he ended with, and I was like, 'I'm following this, I love this, people are dancing, baby might come out, we're good.'"

On Tuesday's episode of "The View," Goldberg announced that Griffin was in labor and jokingly suggested her comment from the previous day was prophetic.

He added that he and Rios had welcomed a "healthy baby boy!" Mario previously confirmed he was expecting a child with Rios in August 2025, when he shared a photo of himself touching her baby bump. "It's a whole universe in there!" he wrote. "I can't wait."

She added, "We had endless conversations with our doctors in this journey and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family." Trainor and Sabara are already parents to Riley, 4, and Barry, 2. Trainor later told People magazine she wants "people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family" and is "not something to whisper about or judge."

Guest hosts will step in for Griffin during her maternity leave beginning next week, including Savannah Chrisley, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Abby Huntsman, Amanda Carpenter, Sheryl Underwood and Whitney Cummings, according to the show's "Behind the Table" podcast.

In October, Griffin announced her pregnancy on "The View" after she had gone through five rounds of in vitro fertilization treatment, known as IVF.

In an interview withPeople magazine at the time, Griffin opened up about her previous infertility struggles. She said that she and her husband, who have been married since 2021, were ready to have a child a year into their marriage and tried for two years, but her endometriosis diagnosis "added to the complications" and made it more difficult to get pregnant.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, endometriosis is a condition where tissue that's similar to the lining of the uterus grows elsewhere on the body.

"Both Justin and I just feel so grateful that we were in the position that we were even able to do that many rounds of IVF," Griffin told People. "I consider it a miracle of science and just such a wonderful thing that we've gotten to where we are now."

Griffin has served as a cohost of "The View" since 2022. She previously served as White House director of strategic communications during PresidentDonald Trump's first term before later becoming a critic of Trump,saying in 2023that a "second Trump term could mean the end of American democracy as we know it."
